I'm have just finished Ender's Game and the end was really mind blowing. What happen was that Ender was sent to command school to learn how to be a commander. At command school there is this simulator so that you can practice commanding a fleet. You have to command many different squadron leaders too. Ender learns how to master this simulation and be a good commander from Mazer Rackman. He is the person who won the war for earth in the second invasion. What Ender finds out at the end is that all those simulations were real battles and the last one he had killed their queen and destroyed their home. Basically the adults manipulated him. Ender's Coming of age experience was not easy but he made it.
In Ender's coming of age experience he had to face a lot of realizations. What I mean by that is that at the beginning of the book, I thought that Ender was a little weak six year old who was helpless but I was wrong. He has a killer instinct, a killer side, and a Peter side. No matter how much he doesn't want to be like his evil brother because his brother is a killer. But in many ways he is just like his brother. For example how he enjoyed killing in that game he played. He killed millions of buggers too. Making a transition from child to adult so quickly can do things to you.
Also in this book there is a lot of manipulation that goes on. The source of that manipulation is the adults. The adults were manipulating Ender. For example when they didn't tell him that he was killing real buggers when Ender thought it was a simulation. Also how they didn't let him form any attachments to people besides a few but they made sure that the people he did make attachments to were with him at the end. Other then that they isolated him. Especially at command school.
There is this quote in Ender's Game, "Real, not a Game." This quote relates to the book and the real world. It relates to the book because Ender was under the impression that all those simulations were just a game but they were the real thing. It is actually very interesting because when I see parents with their kids, they always say to their kids, "This isn't a game, stop messing around." It is the same here except they want Ender to think it is a game. That is how this quote relates to the real world.

Ender's Coming of Age experience
I am reading Ender's Game which is a science fiction story about the Coming of Age experience. So the story takes place in the future and it is about how the earth is being attacked by aliens or "buggers" which is what they are called in the book. The only person who can stop them is a particular military genius, Ender Wiggins to be specific. Ender has the skills needed for the job but the only problem is that he is just a child. Now he is recruited for military training by the government into battle school. As soon as he enters battle school his childhood is over though so in order for him to survive he has to learn how to survive on his own. His Coming of Age experience starts now.
One part of that Coming of Age experience is learning how to be away from your parents. That is something that Ender has to learn how to do because remember Ender is only six when he enters Battle school. In Battle school they totally isolate him from his family. For example in the book they talk about how if your family writes any letters you won't receive them. The only way you will receive them is if the school wants you to. So basically Ender can't interact with his family. In class we talked about how most of our character's have parents issues in our books. For my character though it is really complicated because its not that his parents are bad parents, its just that he is away from them. Personally I think that his parents being good parents can be debatable because they sent him to Battle school in the first place but I guess it's for the planet.
Another part of the Coming of Age experience is how you do under pressure because there is a lot of pressure when you are growing up. In Ender's Game, Ender is put under a lot of pressure because the survival of the human species depends on him. The thing is he is only six and you are putting this much pressure on him. That is hard to deal with and I don't think he is dealing with it well. I mean it's not only the pressure that he has to deal with, he has to deal with loneliness too. He has to deal with being away from his family for a very long time. He is doing well under all this pressure,

A leader has fallen
I just started reading Eldest and death just hits me right in the face. A little after the beginning of the book Alijad is killed by the Urgals. This is a huge tragedy because Alijad is the leader of the Varden who are basically rebels so they oppose King Galbotorix. Basically it is like their president died because our president is our leader and Alijad is theirs so I just want to know who should lead the Varden now?
I think they should let Murtagh lead them because I don't think anyone hates the Empire more than him or opposes the Empire more than him. I think he is mature enough and old enough for the job but instead they want to put Nasuada to replace Alijad. I don't think that is a good choice because she is to young and I don't think she is strong enough mentally. When Eragon was talking to the Council of Elders, they were trying to pick a new leader. They wanted to pick Nasuada just so they could control her but if she doesn't let herself be controlled then she is a true leader.
I think that is how our school is today, when we pick a mayor or we pick presidents they can't do anything. They can only do what the principals let them do. Sometimes presidents or rulers are corrupt which means that they are being controlled. Even if you are corrupted for money because you don't want to die, you are still being corrupt.

She even tells us why she is reading the book because when we are reading books we don't say the reason for us reading the book we just say what we think of it. I think when we are reading something that people don't expect us to read, we put a reason for why we are reading a book. For some reason people don't think we are advanced enough to be reading that sort of material. I think a lot more African American girls she be reading this kind of material and researching the people she is researching.

Eragon: Beginnings
I just started reading Eragon and I can't say much about it but so far so good. The thing is even though I just started I am already started comparing it to the movie. When my brother was saying that in the movie they got all wrong , he wasn't joking. They totally got it wrong in the movie. Like I said though I haven't gotten that far in the book. I have noticed some things about Eragon's family and life situation too.
Some of the things that the movie messed up was picking the right actors for some of the parts. Sloan who owns the meat shop was described as a short, small man. In the movie the guy was tall and fat. Eragon's family seems to really be poor based on what he ate for dinner and breakfast. He ate bread and cheese for dinner and porridge for dinner. He can't afford his own meat from the meat shop so he has to go hunt for it. He also said that if they didn't get meat for the winter they would starve.
Usually when I hear about getting something before something these days, It usually is you have to get food before a big storm comes. In the book They have to get meat before winter. When I hear that, I usually hear it from farmers so I am guessing that they are farmers. Eragon didn't catch any meat so I think he would do anything so that his family doesn't starve to death. I wonder what he will do?

Superheros and their Relationships:Comparison
I am reading the graphic novel Spider-man Volume Three and what I notice is that Peter Parker being Spider Man and all has a lot of relationship problems with his wife Mary Jane. They never have time for each other. They live in 2 different parts of the Country. What makes matters worse is that one of them is a Superhero. This leads to one of them feeling rejected. Obviously that is not good for the relationship. The only reason Peter has this problem I think is because he has to hide his identity so he has to pretend that he doesn't know Mary Jane personally.
The thing is people like Superman don't face this problem because he lives most of his life as Superman. When he walking around in his house and someone sees him the person would say hey there is Superman not there is Clark Kent. Superman's relationship with Lois Lane seems to be going better than Spider-man's. I actually don't understand why Spider-man is having a harder time than Superman because they both have to deal with secret identity problems.
The only guy I could think of who doesn't have that relationship problem is Iron Man because the people know who he is. People know who he is so he can have a "relationship" with anyone he wants because number one he is rich and number two he doesn't have to deal with identity problems. Unlike Iron Man, Spider Man wants to be serious with his relationships. That is the difference between the 2. That is how I feel about superhero relationships.
